Lucy Allan MP has welcomed the Government announcement that bus services across England will continue to be capped at £2 until 31st October and then will be kept at £2.50 until November 2024.
The fare cap aims to save people money, encourage more bus usage, and reduce congestion and emissions. It will apply to all bus fares in Telford.
Lucy Allan MP said:
“The £2 bus fare cap has been very welcome in Telford, where an increasing number of people are using bus services.
Last year, I worked closely with Arriva to communicate concerns about unreliable and increasingly expensive routes and am pleased to see a significant increase in their performance since last year.
The cap has really helped residents with the cost and convenience of bus travel and I would encourage residents to use local buses wherever possible.”
Transport Secretary, Mark Harper MP said:
Taking the bus is the most popular form of public transport and millions of people rely on these vital services every day.
That’s why we’re investing half a billion pounds to help people save money amid cost of living pressures and continue to level up transport in all parts of the country, doing our bit to help halve inflation and grow the economy.
