The Government’s new Frequently Flooded Allowance (FFA) is a £100 million fund designed to protect communities from flooding. Lucy Allan MP has welcomed that Ironbridge will receive £379,000 as part of the first round of allocations.
The FFA will protect 2,300 households and businesses in flood-risk areas of the country where 10 or more properties have flooded twice or more in a decade. It aims to prioritise small communities, such as Ironbridge, who require complex or expensive flood defences but would not ordinarily be able to fund them in full.
Lucy Allan MP said:
The Frequently Flooded Allowance is a vital opportunity to invest in long-term flood defences and I am glad Ironbridge is in the first round of allocations. Flooding in Ironbridge puts homes and businesses at risk and I am glad that we can now invest in more effective flood defences through this new fund.
I am grateful to Minister Pow who is aware of the specific issues facing residents and businesses in Ironbridge having visited on a number of occasions.

This much-needed funding will go a long way to support those whose homes and livelihoods are repeatedly threatened by flooding and forms a key part of a record £5.2 billion investment by 2027.
