Today in Parliament, Lucy Allan MP asked the Secretary of State for Business, Grant Shapps MP, to confirm that nobody responsible for the Post Office Horizon Scandal would be exempt from justice.
Whilst it is welcome that wrongfully convicted Postmasters are to be compensated for their harrowing ordeal, it is crucial that all of those who are responsible are held to account. This may include senior officials who worked for the Department for Business. It is crucial that Postmasters can be confident that justice will be delivered.
Given that the Department is administering the compensation scheme, Lucy today sought assurances that no stone would be left unturned in ensuring those responsible for the Horizon Scandal will be held to account.
The Secretary of State was clear that nobody responsible for the scandal would be exempt.
