The Health and Social Care Committee, of which Lucy Allan MP is a member, is currently undertaking an inquiry into the future of General Practice.
General Practice has seen significant changes in recent years, such as the development of Primary Care Networks, and during the pandemic the way in which many patients interact with their local practice has changed substantially. The Committee’s inquiry will explore specific issues including regional variation in general practice, the general practice workload, and the partnership model of general practice.
Crucially, Lucy is paying particular scrutiny to two major issues, which are impacting residents in Telford:
- Access to GPs
The long waiting lists and difficulty in seeing GPs is a real concern for Lucy, and is one of the most common issues raised by constituents in Telford. - Continuity of Care
Lucy is keen to see that wherever possible, GPs care is consistent. Patients should have the same GP wherever possible to ensure a better understanding of their health needs and so that they do not have to see a series of GPs with little connection to their personal circumstances.
