At the request of bereaved constituents, Lucy attended the National Coronavirus Memorial Wall to pay her respects to those in Telford who have lost their lives to coronavirus throughout the pandemic.
Stretching more than a third of a mile along the South Bank of the River Thames in London, opposite the Palace of Westminster, the mural is made up of thousands of red and pink hearts, with one heart for each of the approximately 150,000 casualties of COVID-19 in the United Kingdom.
The project was organised by members of the public and the intent was for each heart to be "individually hand-painted; utterly unique, just like the loved ones we’ve lost".
Commenting, Lucy Allan MP said:
"The impact of the pandemic has been immense, not least on the families of those who sadly lost their lives to this terrible disease.
My thoughts continue to be with their loved ones at this difficult time, and I welcome the announcement of an Independent Inquiry into the handling of the pandemic.
It is important that we remember those who are no longer with us and keep their memory alive. The National Coronavirus Memorial Wall is a deeply moving tribute which I know means a great deal to families in Telford and across the country."
