Today in Parliament Lucy asked the Post Office Minister, Paul Scully MP, to confirm that public funds had not been used by the Post Office to fund legal proceedings against sub-postmasters.
The Minister confirmed that the legal defence was undertaken and paid for by the Post Office alone, and not funded by taxpayers.
555 sub-postmasters had bravely stood against the institutional power of the Post Office in a group litigation that concluded in 2019.
The legal proceedings will be subject to an independent inquiry chaired by Sir Wyn Williams, which will report back later this year.
