Today, Tuesday 13th April 2021, is Vaisakhi. Vaisakhi is an important day for the Sikh and Hindu communities, which marks the solar New Year, spring harvest festival and the birth of Sikhism.
Lucy has a deep respect for the Sikh faith and values, and has urged people to learn more about Sikhism. As a member of the APPG on British Sikhs, Lucy has worked in parliament to support and promote the community in Telford and across the UK.
As an MP visiting the Guru Nanak Gurdwara in Oakengates, Lucy has always been made to feel really welcome and offered amazing food. Celebrating Vaisakhi is an important annual event in Telford which the whole community enjoys.
Whilst this year's celebrations cannot take place under completely normal circumstances, Lucy hopes that those who are celebrating in Telford are able to see friends and family within the current rules. Vaisakhi 2022 celebrations will be able to be held in full once more.
