Over the past week, Lucy Allan MP has been lobbying the Government to move towards a 24/7 vaccine rollout.
On Wednesday 6th January, Lucy asked the Prime Minister in Parliament to ensure that all logistical barriers to an accelerated vaccination programme are removed including incentivising 24/7 working.
On Tuesday 12th January, Lucy asked the Defence Secretary to make use the fantastic army logistics capabilities to enable 24/7 vaccination.
At today's Prime Minister's Questions, the PM has now committed to making the move towards 24/7 vaccinations - with the Health Secretary to announce further details shortly.
Lucy has warmly welcomed this development.
In practical terms, Lucy has suggested to the PM and Ministers that vaccine acceleration could be achieved by round-the-clock working for PHE staff, creative use of drive throughs and vaccination hubs and a greater role for the armed forces and pharmacies, who have experience in handling and administering vaccines and medical supply chains.
