Today in Parliament, Lucy Allan MP asked the Prime Minister to ensure that all logistical barriers to accelerated vaccination are removed. Lucy suggested looking at around the clock working for PHE staff, creative use of drive throughs and vaccination hubs and a greater role for the armed forces and pharmacies, who have experience in handling and administering vaccines and medical supply chains.
The vaccination programme is already underway in Telford and across Shropshire. The vaccines are being delivered in three different ways: through hospital hubs, local community services (GPs and pharmacies) and at newly established mass vaccination centres across the country, such as sports centres or conference centres.
The NHS has been clear however: When it is your turn to be vaccinated, the NHS will contact you. Please do not contact the NHS to request a vaccine – if you are registered with a GP you will be contacted when your dose is available.
