On Friday, 13th November, Telford and Wrekin Council received the latest allocation of the Local Restrictions Support Grant and the Additional Restrictions Grant. These two grants, funded by the Government and administered by the Council, are designed to provide further support to businesses that have been impacted by the pandemic in light of the new national restrictions.
The latest allocations for Telford and Wrekin Council totalled:
- £2,379,690 from the Local Restrictions Support Grant
- £3,597,080 from the Additional Restrictions Grant
Businesses required to close due to national ‘lockdown’ restrictions will receive grants of up to £3,000 per 28-day period under the Local Restrictions Support Grant (Closed) Addendum, an extension of the Local Restrictions Support Grant (Closed) scheme.
The Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) provides local councils with grant funding to support closed businesses that do not directly pay business rates as well as businesses that do not have to close but which are impacted.
Local councils have the freedom to determine the eligibility criteria for these grants.
This could include businesses which supply the retail, hospitality, and leisure sectors, businesses in the events sector or businesses required to close but which do not pay business rates.
