Every year, Hollinswood & Randlay Parish Council organise Telford’s largest Remembrance Sunday service, to pay respects to the local service men and women those who sacrificed so much for our freedom. Due to the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent restrictions, the Parish Council has had to find an innovative solution to ensure that the service can still go ahead.
The service will be streamed on the Parish Council’s website and Facebook page, allowing us to still honour our fallen heroes and soldiers who fought bravely for their country in two World Wars and subsequent conflicts.
Contributions by local people and organisations, including local schools, councillors, businesses, the 1st Randlay Scouts group and Telford’s MP, have been filmed in advance of the Sunday service, which will be broadcasted online from 10:45am on Sunday 8th November. In accordance with tradition, there will also be prayers, readings and the sounding of the Last Post by the Wolverhampton Brass Band. This will coincide with a two-minute national silence at 11am, where people across the country will come together to honour the service and sacrifice of our Armed Forces on Remembrance Sunday.
Whilst it is deeply disappointing that the full Remembrance Day service will not be taking place this year, we can all still play a part in ensuring we mark the occasion appropriately. Residents can access the virtual service from 10:45am on Sunday 8th November via the following links:

I welcome the proactive response of Hollinswood & Randlay Parish Council in restructuring their Remembrance Day service so that our community can come together as we always have to pay our respects to our local veterans and fallen heroes. It was an honour to participate in this event and lay a wreath on the Town Park memorial.”
Cllr Sheenagh Unwin, Chair of the Hollinswood & Randlay Parish Council, said:
“As a parish, we decided that this year especially we needed to remember the fallen, all those that gave their lives for us to live in a better world.
With people not being able to join us this year at the memorial in the Town Park due to Covid, we decided that we would film the event over a few days, social distancing and upload the video so residents can join us on the safety from their own homes.
