Today in parliament, Lucy Allan MP raised the issues at the Telford test site directly with the Health Secretary, Matt Hancock MP.
As many residents will be aware, hundreds of people from around the country had been instructed to travel to Telford for a coronavirus test. People had come from as far away as London and Cornwall, causing major congestion and overwhelming the test site, forcing its closure.
As a result many local residents were unable to access a test in Telford, whilst those who had in some cases driven hundreds of miles were turned away.
The error appears to have been the result of a glitch in the booking system, and Lucy secured the Health Secretary's assurance that he would look into the matter directly to ensure it cannot happen again.
