Today in Parliament, a debate was held to further discuss the Post Office Horizon scandal. Lucy Allan MP asked the Minister for the Post Office, Paul Scully MP, about the key part the CCRC (Criminal Cases Review Commission) has in looking at the wrongful convictions of sub-Postmasters.
The CCRC is currently evaluating the convictions of hundreds of sub-Postmasters wrongly convicted of fraud, theft and false accounting following inconsistencies in the Horizon computer system which were caused by a software glitch.
Lucy is clear that the most important thing for sub-Postmasters is for the wrongful convictions to be overturned and it is encouraging that the Minister confirmed that the cases will be able to be referred to the Court of Appeal by the CCRC.
