This week it was confirmed by the House of Commons authorities that Lucy Allan MP has been successful in her bid to secure a debate on behalf of Post Office workers.
The 90-minute debate will take place in Westminster Hall on Thursday, 5th March and will give MPs an opportunity to raise the cases of their constituents who have been affected by the Horizon IT scandal, which hundreds of Post Office workers convicted for theft and false accounting on what is now known to be unreliable evidence.
Following the judgement of Justice Fraser in December 2019, the opportunity now arises for Post Office workers to seek justice and have their convictions overturned. Lucy is a passionate advocate of their cause, and has been working closely with MPs from all parties to see that this issue is raised at the highest levels of government.
Lucy intends to raise the prospect of overturning the convictions as a group, based on the commonality of unreliable evidence, rather than each case being treated as unrelated. This is to speed up the process of clearing the names of those wrongly accused.

I would ask all Post Office workers affected by the Horizon scandal to contact their MP to ask them to attend this debate to show their support for those Post Office workers affected. This a unique set of circumstances and Government needs to find a solution which will promptly clear the names of those whose lives have been ruined by this miscarriage of justice. No one can move forward until the criminal records are expunged and it is ridiculous for anyone to suggest otherwise.”
