At Lucy Allan MP's invitation, the Secretary of State for the Environment, George Eustice MP, visited Ironbridge yesterday. He met with residents, local businesses, emergency services and the Environment Agency.
Lucy is determined to support residents over the long term. All feedback she has received is being fed into the National Flood Resilience Group for better planning to prevent a recurrence of this scale of damage in future. She has been raising Telford's case with Ministers, the Environment Agency and emergency responders to ensure that this issue remains on their radar once the waters have subsided.
In her meeting with the Flooding Minister, Rebecca Pow MP, Lucy pressed the specific case for supporting Ironbridge's environmental resilience and protection of homes, businesses, and cultural centres. Lucy has also visited the town twice in the last 10 days and raised the matter in Parliament.
Lucy is grateful to Secretary of State for visiting Ironbridge to hear from residents and business owners and to affirm the Government's support for our community. Residents affected by flooding should contact the Council, who are distributing the Government's flood relief financial package, on 01952 384 000.
Lucy's letter to residents is attached below.
