Today, Lucy again pledged her firm commitment to Holocaust Memorial Day by signing the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Book of Commitment in Westminster.
Holocaust Memorial Day is a way of honouring all those that perished in the Holocaust and the extraordinary survivors that continue to educate people about the horrors of the genocide to this day.
Holocaust Memorial Day is marked on the 27th January – the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp. This year is both the 75th anniversary of the camp's liberation and the 25th anniversary of the Bosnian genocide. It is vital that we remember these atrocities and teach them to new generations so we can avoid the horrors of the past.
The theme for this year’s Memorial Day is ‘Stand Together’.
