Today at the Conservative Party annual Conference, Chancellor Sajid Javid MP outlined his plans to ensure that no community will be left behind in a £25 billion “infrastructure revolution”. The plans announced include nationwide 5G broadband, revitalised bus services and upgrades to major roads.
The Chancellor set out the first projects in a road investment strategy, £5 billion to extend high-speed broadband to the hardest to reach parts of the country and a £220 million fund for buses. Sajid Javid also announced that he would soon launch the new Roads Investment Strategy with £29 billion committed for strategic and local roads over the next five years.

“The Chancellor’s announcement today for a £25 billion infrastructure revolution is great news for New Towns up and down the country, including Telford.
“In Telford we need better digital and transport connectivity, so this announcement is hugely welcome. Better connectivity is vital for business jobs and growth.
“I have made the case for improved connectivity for New Towns as the Chair of the cross party Parliamentary group on New Towns, and for Telford in particular. Telford has been allocated £25m from the Towns Fund to spend in improving connectivity. I am delighted by this commitment to our town and to infrastructure. Good connectivity is vital for our success. I am pleased that the Government is listening and taking action.”
