Local MP, Lucy Allan recently had the opportunity to visit the local British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS) on offer in Telford.
During the visit, Ms Allan met with the Practice manager and was given a full insight into the services on offer to women in the local area.
BPAS is a charity whose stated purpose is to support reproductive choice by advocating and providing high quality, affordable services to prevent or end unwanted pregnancies with contraception or by abortion.
The MP was also told about the current legal challenges surrounding abortion including the call to decriminalise abortion up to 24 weeks of pregnancy and regulate in the same way as all other medical procedures to improve and safeguard the future of services.
Following the visit, Lucy Allan said:
"I was delighted to visit BPAS in Telford to learn more about the important and vital services they offer to women of all ages in our community.
"I have committed to supporting any future legislation that removes abortion from criminal law for up to 24 weeks and any regulations which provide better protections for women in abusive relationships. It is important that women are free to choose how to live their lives and are supported in doing so."
