Today during Health Questions in Parliament, Health Secretary Matthew Hancock MP confirmed that the Independent Reconfiguration Panel will consider all the evidence in the Future Fit decision, to ensure that the plans are in the best interests of both Shrewsbury and Telford.
The Health Secretary confirmed last week that he had referred the Future Fit decision to an Independent Reconfiguration Panel to assess the case.
Lucy Allan said:
“It’s great to hear the Health Secretary confirming that the Independent Panel will consider all the evidence when making a decision on Future Fit.
“Hospital management have been working up their plans over the past 5 years without listening to the needs of Telford. The Secretary of State has made clear that if any such plans go ahead, then the evidence will need to show that these plans are in the interests of both Shrewsbury and Telford.
“Given the serious concerns that residents, clinicians, and all local representatives have both over the process, outcome, and deliverability, it is entirely right that this decision has been referred to this panel and I look forward to hearing the outcome.”
