Yesterday in Parliament, Telford’s MP Lucy Allan welcomed the Commercial Director, Martin Burdekin of local Telford business Cedo Ltd, to attend a Parliamentary Reception about the plastic industry’s vision for reducing plastic waste.
Based in Halesfield, Cedo Ltd are market leading suppliers of consumer household products including cling-film and food bags, which they manufacture for many of the largest UK and European retailers.
The Reception provided a chance for industry experts to discuss positive steps towards leaving the environment in a better state for future generations, by tackling the issue of plastic waste while ensuring that the material continues to benefit society.
Sponsored by the British Plastics Federation, the Parliamentary Reception was also a chance to highlight the industry’s vital contribution to the economy as the third largest manufacturing sector in the UK.
Attending the Reception were MPs from across the country as well as industry leaders and Minister for the Environment, Dr Thérèse Coffey MP.
Lucy Allan said:
“I am always delighted to welcome Telford businesses to Parliament, especially one which operates in the plastics sector which plays a vital role in our local economy.
“The future of plastics is an important issue and as policy makers we need to strike the right balance between preserving plastic products, whilst upholding corporate responsibility in reducing the amount of plastic waste which is harming our environment.”
