Group 6 can be vaccinated now at Telford International Centre and Bucks Head Wellington.
The pace of the national vaccine rollout is such that Telford residents from Group 6 (all individuals aged 16-64 with underlying health conditions) are being invited for vaccinations. However, some people in this group have struggled to get an appointment via 119. This is because GPs want to vaccinate Group 6 but do not have sufficient capacity. Group 6 people can go to TIC but they are not being offered this option. Instead they are being told to wait until their GP has a slot.
Lucy Allan MP is monitoring the rollout closely and is in regular contact with the local NHS commissioning group (which is responsible for the roll out) local volunteers, vaccination centre staff and Ministers at the Department for Health. She is pressing the CCG to push on with the roll out and cut through hurdles.
If you are in Group 6 for vaccinations you can go in person to the Telford International Centre to receive a jab or next day appointment. You will be required to show the letter or text inviting you to be vaccinated. The vaccine is currently being offered to the following groups:
- those aged 64 or over
- those who have previously received a letter saying you are at high risk from coronavirus (clinically extremely vulnerable)
- those who are an eligible frontline health worker
- those who are an eligible frontline social care worker
- those who are eligible for Carer's Allowance – find out more about Carer's Allowance on GOV.UK
Those who fall into one of the clinically at risk groups will be contacted by their GP practice or Primary Care Network, who are using practice records to invite people to have their vaccine.
Those who are eligible for carer’s allowance are able to book through the national booking service here.
Those with an invitation need to book an appointment before attending any of the vaccine centres.

“It’s deeply frustrating for everyone involved that the vaccination roll out has seemingly ground to a halt over the last few weeks. There seems to be bureaucratic hurdles that no one in charge wants to tackle. It’s quite wrong that Group 6 people in Telford cannot get an appointment and are told to wait despite the fact we have so much spare capacity and invites have been issued.”
