At a meeting with local health leaders today, it was confirmed to Lucy Allan MP that vaccination appointment letters will be sent to residents aged 55 and above from this weekend.
Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin remains one of the top performing areas in the West Midlands, with 100% of people aged 75 years and and above having been vaccinated, 97.83% of those aged between 70 and 74 and 89.79% of those aged between 65 and 69 years.
92.46% of the Clinically Extremely Vulnerable in Telford have also been vaccinated, and 69% of 60-64 year olds have received theirs so far.
At this stage in the programme, a key focus is also to push for the 30% of Social and Domiciliary care workers who have not yet taken up the offer of a vaccine to book an appointment. This is crucial to protect both those in the social care system and the staff who work there.
Lucy Allan MP has warmly welcomed the pace of the local rollout, which has defied expectations and continues to move at speed to ensure everyone in Telford will soon be able to receive a vaccine.

Just one year ago we had still not entered lockdown, and it is a massive achievement to now be rapidly vaccinating residents against a disease we barely understood just twelve months ago. Every jab can potentially save a life and it is crucial that when you receive a letter that you book your appointment. The faster everyone can be vaccinated, the faster we can return to normal life - and meet our friends and family again."
