Lucy Allan MP has welcomed the continued success of the vaccination programme in Telford.
Telford is currently in Phase 1 of the Vaccination Programme, focusing on vaccinating those who are currently eligible for vaccination. Phase one sees the NHS working through the priority groups 1 to 9 and aims to finish in mid-April.
The Prime Minister has been clear that all first doses that are already booked in April will be honoured and second dose vaccinations will continue as planned throughout April, despite minor supply difficulties. These are expected to be resolved later in March as new Moderna vaccines are imported.
As of 18th March:
- 95% of people aged 65 and over have been vaccinated with a first dose and 9/10 of the clinically extremely vulnerable have received a jab.
- This equates to more than 217,000 people in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin who have received their first dose of the vaccination.
- 160,314 (89.4%) first vaccine doses have been administered to those aged 55+ across Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin.
- 100% of all old-age care home residents and staff in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin have been offered the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination. Second dose vaccination has now started in older person care homes this is being delivered by the Primary Care Networks.
- The local programme is still on track to have offered a first dose vaccine to priority groups 1-9 by mid-April and all second dose vaccination appointments will go ahead as planned.
- Letters and texts inviting those aged 50-54 for vaccination have gone out this week.
