Free specialist training for engineers to learn how to install and maintain green technologies, including solar panels, heat pumps and insulation, is to be launched in Telford.
The first of these “retrofit skills bootcamps” has been launched at Teach a Trade in Halesfield, in partnership with Telford College. Teach a Trade is an exciting new venture driving skills training in Telford and offering opportunities for upskilling and vocational courses.
The initiative will provide engineers and plumbers with new skills and a formal qualification to install, service and maintain heat pumps. Mental health training will also be part of the programme as part of an initiative to raise awareness in the construction industry of mental health.
The initiative is being funded through £11 million of Government funding earmarked for investment in skills.
