"I am concerned that the children and young people’s services at the Princess Royal Hospital have been rated inadequate by the Care Quality Commission. The CQC has rated children and young people’s services as inadequate overall, and ‘requires improvement’ for care services.
Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital Trust has fallen short in a number of areas in recent years. The Trust now has a new management team and external support to enable it to tackle these shortcomings. Together with fellow Shropshire MPs I meet regularly with management to ensure that there is a robust and focused approach towards improvement.
The Hospital has made steps forward and I have confidence in the new Chief Executive, Louise Barnett, and her team to work towards continued improvement. I am encouraged to see that the Hospital Trust has already issued a clear action plan to deliver a better service for children and young people. I will continue to monitor developments closely.
It is crucial that the action plan is implemented promptly. My constituents deserve quality healthcare and MPs and other local partners need to work together with Trust management to achieve this."
