Telford MP Lucy Allan has welcomed the £920,000 being invested by Network Rail to replace the public footbridge at Oakengates Station.
Lucy has campaigned with residents to raise this issue and secure funding for the bridge. The new bridge will be installed on 13th June 2021, and residents will still be able to cross the railway using the footbridge at the station.
Work will be done overnight to ensure no passenger services are affected.
Lucy has warmly welcomed the project, which will benefit local residents and improve the quality of Telford's railway network. Lucy continues to push in parliament for more direct services to Birmingham and London from Telford and improvements to railway infrastructure across the town.
Lucy Allan MP said:
"One of my main priorities as an MP is to secure better infrastructure for Telford. I am pleased that Network rail are investing in better facilities in Telford following years of campaigning from local residents.
“I am really looking forward to the new bridge installation - well done to local residents for working hard to make this happen.”
