Today, the Prime Minister will meet Telford resident Tracy Felstead, who was a victim of the Post Office Scandal and one of the 39 who successfully overturned her conviction at the Court of Appeal last week.
Lucy Allan MP arranged the meeting between Tracy and the Prime Minister so he could hear directly from those affected by the Horizon IT scandal. Lucy is very grateful to the Prime Minister for his interest in righting wrongs for all sub postmasters and wanting to hear first-hand from the affected.
The meeting will be small, with only 3 sub postmasters attending, ensuring that Tracy's concerns and story can be heard.
Working cross-party as a member of the APPG on Post-Offices, Lucy had for many years sought to secure and partake in parliamentary debates and question sessions to raise the profile of this scandal and keep pressure on the Post Office itself.
Lucy also met personally with representatives of the Post Office in Parliament, seeking to raise the issue directly with management. The Post Office were, however, intransigent throughout. Liaising with the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC), Lucy was confident that the evidence used to convict the sub-postmasters was unsound and continued to fight on behalf of sub-postmasters together with colleagues across Parliament.
Lucy continues to campaign for justice for all sub-postmasters and for their money taken to make up ‘phantom shortfalls’ on their tills to be returned to them. You can see her record on this issue here.
