Following the publication of the Ockenden Report into maternity care at the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital Trust (SaTH), Lucy has been closely following the Trust’s progress in implementing its recommendations.
SaTH’s Chief Executive, Louise Barnett, has confirmed that more than half of the 210 recommendations made in the Ockenden Report have already been implemented.
The Trust has been forthright in its acceptance of failings and Lucy has been encouraged by their proactive work to make lasting changes and improvements to the culture and practices in maternity departments both at the Princess Royal Hospital and at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
Lucy Allan MP said
I am pleased that SaTH has made significant progress implementing the recommendations of the Ockenden Report. The Trust has taken the report seriously and I am encouraged at the pace of progress being made.
My constituents expect the highest level of maternity care and deserve to have confidence in the NHS to provide these services locally.
I will continue to follow the Trust’s progress in implementing the remaining recommendations in full but have been encouraged by its proactive approach to improving maternity care in Telford.
I meet regularly with the Hospital Trust to discuss their progress and I have a further meeting scheduled next week.
