Today, Lucy visited Nuffield Health’s Fitness and Wellbeing Centre in Telford.
Nuffield Health runs a free program for people suffering from joint pain due to waiting lists for hip knee replacements. Lucy met with program participants to hear about impact of chronic pain on their lives and how the Nuffield program had helped them, not just with a reduction in pain but also with support for the isolation and mental health challenges that are associated with impaired mobility.
The Joint Pain Programme includes physical activity, education, and wellbeing support to help those suffering with chronic joint pain. The sessions are held on Monday and Wednesday and have excellent outcomes: nearly 70% of participants reported clinically significant improvements in their condition, with some 30% of those unable to work before attending sessions able to return to the workplace in just 3 months.

I was grateful to Nuffield Health for hosting me at the amazing Telford Fitness and Wellbeing Centre this afternoon.
Given the impact of NHS surgical backlogs on my constituents with joint pain, this is an excellent free service that helps people to manage their joint pain and significantly improve their condition.
I would advise any constituent suffering from chronic joint pain to try a session with Nuffield’s expert rehabilitation specialists here in Telford.
