Today in Parliament, Lucy asked Foreign Office Minister James Cleverly to ensure that MPs receive regular updates on the progress of settling Afghan refugees in the UK.
Thousands of refugees who were evacuated from the fall of Kabul last August are still being housed in ‘temporary’ bridging hotels across the country with little information being provided as to when they can be assigned proper housing. Opportunities to integrate refugees into society are not being taken quickly enough and it is important that the UK supports all those who fled the Taliban.
Lucy is determined to ensure that those refugees welcomed by the UK and particularly to Telford are not forgotten and that they should not be left to languish in temporary and unsuitable accommodation which is preventing them from integrating and settling into communities across the UK.
