Yesterday at the Health and Social Care Committee, Lucy put questions to Health Secretary Steve Barclay MP about the poor performance of healthcare in Telford and across Shropshire.
The Committee Provides a platform for MPs to hold senior members of the Government and stakeholders and executives from across the NHS to account.
Lucy asked the Health Secretary specifically what actions the Department for Health and Social Care can do to identify and tackle health disparities which see patients across the country facing very different standards of care.
The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital Trust currently has an “inadequate” rating from the CQC and residents face some of the longest waiting times, ambulance waiting times and surgical backlogs in the country.
Following this, Lucy asked the Health Secretary about progress on implementing the recommendations of the Ockenden report and the Department for Health and Social Care’s approach to improving quality of maternity care, including early identification of issues in maternity care.
