I recently met with the British Legion in Telford to discuss the important work they do to support our veterans.
They explained that there is a huge network of organisations supporting the Armed Forces community, so finding the right one may be difficult.
At Veterans’ Gateway, they make it quick and easy by being your first point of contact for whatever support you need.
Many of the team members are veterans themselves so they fully understand the issues that people face after leaving the Armed Forces.
They work with people on a one-to-one basis, connecting them with the right support as soon as possible. They are also able to put veterans and their families in touch with the organisations best placed to help with the information, advice and support they need – from healthcare and housing to employability, finances, personal relationships and more.
I am delighted that such a scheme is in full operation thanks to The Armed Forces Covenant introduced by the Ministry of Defence.
