The Government has today announced the launch of the Energy Bill Relief Scheme to support businesses across the country with their rising energy bills.
The Scheme will provide businesses with a discount on wholesale gas and electricity prices for all non-domestic customers. This will include all UK businesses, the voluntary sector, charities and the public sector including schools and hospitals. These sectors have seen their current gas and electricity bills rising significantly in light of global energy prices.
The level of price reduction for each business will vary depending on their contract type and circumstances, but the Energy Bill Relief Scheme will be equivalent to the Energy Price Guarantee put in place for households.
Lucy Allan MP said:
I am pleased that the new Government has been proactive in getting support to businesses, who are crucial employers in Telford, supporting thousands of jobs and livelihoods. The rising cost of energy has put many companies in Telford in a very difficult position and this new relief scheme will ensure their prosperity through these challenging times.
To emerge from the economic pressures we are facing, it is crucial to encourage business-led growth to drive prosperity. This is something I have been championing for many years and I am pleased that the Government is now putting this approach into reality.
