Today in Parliament, Lucy Allan MP received assurances from Lord Chancellor Dominic Raab MP that pre-recorded evidence for victims of sexual crimes will be a key part of Section 28 of the Victims Bill.
The Victims Bill is a centrepiece of Government legislation designed to create more protections for the victims of crime and make the process of reporting crimes easier for victims.
Lucy Allan MP has welcomed the Lord Chancellor's commitment to allowing victims to pre-record their evidence.
Lucy has been a long-term campaigner for victims of rape and sexual abuse to pre-record their evidence, enabling more victims to access justice and ultimately bring more perpetrators to justice. She was today delighted to receive assurances that this option will be included in the Victims Bill.
Pre-recorded evidence helps to make a victim's path through the justice system less challenging and will hopefully lead to more convictions of perpetrators.
