Today I asked the Prime Minister to strengthen the rights of homeowners on new build estates.
Many residents in areas like Lawley Village and Lightmoor have experienced ongoing issues - such as unfinished communal areas and un-adopted roads et al - and have had their complaints ignored by developers and the local authority.
This is unacceptable, and I am pleased the Prime Minister has said that the Government will now be looking to legislate in this area, so that freeholders can have the "same rights as leaseholders".
This is a positive step and I will be continuing to work with residents, developers, Telford & Wrekin Council and the Communities and Local Government department to ensure residents' concerns are heard.
The Prime Minister also took the opportunity today to congratulate Telford on its 50th anniversary.
