On Friday 2nd December, Lucy attended a public meeting with residents to discuss the proposed regeneration of Market Street and Limes Walk in Oakengates.
The meeting was organised by local trader Christine Orford well attended and professionally chaired by Steve Wood, Mayor of the Oakengates Town Council.
Lucy left a comment on Telford & Wrekin Council’s planning portal and would encourage residents to do so here.

I know from my conversations with residents that the plans for the proposed redevelopment of Market Street and Limes Walk in Oakengates have raised concerns in the local community. On Friday, I attended a community consultation along with residents to listen to their concerns about the proposals.
It was well worth taking the time to properly engage with the proposals and I better understand the issues having listened to residents and local traders.
I have taken away action points from the meeting to discuss with the Council. We all want investment in Oakengates but it must be delivered in accordance with the wishes of the local community.
It’s important elected representatives attend public meetings and engage with the people they represent. The people we serve deserve to have their voices heard. It was regrettable that Oakengates Councillors did not attend and nor did the Telford & Wrekin Council Leader.
