Lucy Allan MP and Mark Pritchard, MP for the Wrekin, co-signed a letter to the Sports Minister, Nigel Huddleston, to lobby for grant funding for AFC Telford United.
The club is currently being supported through Government funding, but given the immense pressures on its finances and the cost of player contracts, the club and its fans have asked whether this could be paid in grants, rather than loans, going forward. As a member of the National League North, AFC Telford does not have the billions that Premier and Championship clubs have, and it is crucial to support Telford's local team and the role it plays in the community.
Given the importance of AFC Telford United to those who live in and around the town, Lucy has determined to lobby the Minister directly so this issue can be raised.
