Lucy Allan MP will deliver the key note speech at the Town and Country Planning Association's (TCPA) 'New Towns' conference in London tomorrow. The conference, entitled: New Towns - the next 70 years, is to examine the lessons, both successes and failures, of the first generation New Towns and the long term planning need to ensure they flourish in future. The conference will also consider how to apply these lessons to the next generation of New Towns which are a key plank in the Government's plans to solve today's unmet demand for housing.
Last month Sajid Javid, Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government launched the All Party Parliamentary Group for New Towns in Parliament, which is chaired by Lucy Allan. Lucy will be use her speech to outline the APPG's agenda for 2018.
The APPG's programme for 2018 is as follows:
- 14 March: Parliamentary Roundtable 1: Providing high-quality homes in New Towns, now and in the future
- 11 July: Parliamentary Roundtable 2: Healthy New Towns –improving the health and wellbeing of New Town residents
- 7 November: Parliamentary Roundtable 3: Unlocking skills, innovation and enterprise in New Towns
