Lucy Allan MP is to meet with Minister Pow next week to discuss the Ketley waste site fire, illegal dumping on site and the response of the agencies.
The initial fire burned for 29 days in April and May causing environmental damage and health conditions for residents. Now the site has caught fire once again causing fresh concerns for residents.
Lucy Allan said: “Shropshire Fire and Rescue have been amazing. I am concerned that the agencies are not being transparent about how this happened and the action that should have been taken to prevent this incident that has been so damaging to the area and to residents. Domestic waste and plastics were dumped over many years in this residential area and enforcement action was not taken. It’s time for the site to be cleared. A full inquiry is needed. Those responsible must be held to account.”
