Lucy Allan MP has welcomed the news that The Ironbridge Gorge Museums (IGM) will reopen to the public for visitors on 4th July and is accepting online bookings from today.
Lucy has been working with the Ironbridge Gorge Museum during this challenging time and has been lobbying Government and other organisations to secure targeted financial support. Often, museums and cultural attractions run on very tight margins and rely on volunteers to operate. The coronavirus lockdown has significantly impacted the sector and many of our cultural sites have struggled to remain financially viable.
From 4th July, the IGM will reopen three of its museums: Blists Hill Victorian Town, the Museum of Iron and the Toll House. The Museum of the Gorge will also be open as a free entry information centre for the Gorge.
The Museums are launching an online pre-booking system for Blists Hill today, where you can book a slot for its reopening on 4th July.

“Following flood damage earlier this year and then the closure due to coronavirus, IGM has experienced a really challenging time. I have been pleased to work with the organisation to help to secure its future. I would like to encourage everyone in Telford to pay a visit and to recommend their friends and family to so as well. I look forward to seeing our town’s cultural heritage back on display and paying a visit to Blists Hill soon.”
