Secretary of State for Education, Nadhim Zahawi MP, today visited Telford College at Lucy's recommendation.
The Education Secretary met with college staff and local stakeholders to discuss the College's role as a key skills and training provider for the town.
The Education secretary spoke about Telford College's progress in meeting the high standards outlined in the Government's new Education White Paper, which aims to increase access to education and create opportunity for all. Telford College also plans to open a new maths and digital skills hub in Telford’s Station Quarter with funding from Central Government through the Towns Fund.
Lucy Allan MP said:
It was fantastic that the Secretary of State was able to come to Telford to congratulate the college on their recent good Ofsted.
A successful FE college is a vital part of securing Telford’s future. It’s key to providing jobs and opportunities for local people as well as delivering a skilled workforce for business.
The success of the college is critical to our local economy. The team at Telford College has a huge amount to be proud of and they make a tremendous contribution to our community. I was delighted that the Secretary of State took time to acknowledge that in person.
