Today, the Secretary of State for Education, Damian Hinds MP came to Telford to visit Madeley Academy, accompanied by local MP, Lucy Allan.
The Education Secretary was greeted by Headteacher Lady Satchwell and Sir Kevin Satchwell and discussed current educational issues including social mobility, exclusions and OFSTED.
The Education Secretary met a cross-section of students who were delighted to have the opportunity to meet him and enjoyed quizzing him on his role in Government. Who knew he wanted to be a Rockstar if he hadn’t been a politician?
Following the visit, Lucy Allan MP said:
“I was delighted to welcome the Secretary of State to Telford to showcase such a fantastic school. We were made so welcome by staff and students and it was lovely to feel part of this impressive school family and to find out more about its incredible achievements for our community it. It was a really uplifting morning.
“It was also useful for the Education Secretary to experience first-hand what our education system in Telford has to offer and to hear about some of the challenges we face.
“I am so pleased the Secretary of State took the time to come and see us and I know he was hugely impressed with the school and the tremendously engaging students.”
