Albert's Shed, a live music venue and cultural centre in Southwater, has received a second tranche of funding through the Government's Cultural Recovery Fund (CRF).
The CRF is designed to support venues, museums, and cultural centres across the country and has also supported the Ironbridge Gorge Museums throughout the pandemic.
Lucy Allan MP has warmly welcomed Albert's Shed's successful application to the fund, which has been highly competitive across the UK. In total, some £261 million of grants were granted to 2,272 cultural venues across the UK in the second tranche.
The Cultural Renewal Taskforce was established to oversee production of Covid-secure guidance to help the recreation and leisure sectors safely reopen. It helped to shape the Culture Recovery Fund and demonstrates continued and extensive stakeholder engagement to support these sectors.
So far, over £1 billion worth of Culture Recovery funding has been allocated across all four nations of the UK:
- This includes over £800 million to over 3500 arts, culture and heritage organisations in England, helping to support at least 75,000 jobs.
- Within this over £500 million has been awarded in recovery grants; over £160m in repayable finance; and over £100m in capital grants.
Lucy Allan MP said:
"This is very good news for Telford and Albert's Shed, as well as anybody that loves live music. I look forward to seeing Albert's Shed reopen in full and begin to enrich Telford's cultural scene once again. The Cultural Recovery Fund has been a lifesaver for many businesses and museums in the arts and heritage sectors, saving jobs and protecting some of our favourite venues."
