Talented young athletes from Abraham Darby Academy in Madeley are aiming to raise £10,000 to fund a life-changing rugby tour to South Africa next year.
This tour to South Africa in 2023 will be life changing for these students and inspire many others along the path to sporting excellence. The 21 players, who are in years 10 & 11 will be learning business and marketing skills alongside their training, as they promote their fundraising activities for their tour.
Under Head of Rugby Will Bennett, the Academy has made huge strides, competing against some of the finest school teams in the country. Lucy has long been impressed by the ambition of the school, and the students, whose current squad are County finalists and the only state school in Shropshire to play Saturday fixtures.
Lucy Allan MP said:
it has been a tremendous journey; I have so enjoyed seeing the progress that Ab Dab has made over the years, achieving sporting excellence through ambition, discipline, hard work and raw talent. The Academy’s inspiring sporting story shows young people that they can achieve their goals and make their dreams become a reality. I pay tribute to Mr Bennett and his team for their focus on the way rugby expands horizons both on and off the pitch.
i would encourage anyone who can, to support the fundraising efforts of these students so they can go on the South Africa Tour. Your donation will change the lives not just of these players but also many others across our community, who will be inspired to seize opportunities and work towards achieving their goals.
