Figures published by NHS England today, show the progress of vaccinations in each constituency, with Telford coming third in England for the under 70s (as of 21st February). The total number of vaccinations given to Telford residents now stands at 33,060. This is just under half of the total adult electorate in Telford of 68,921.
Population sizes vary across constituencies, but it is very encouraging to see such high numbers of vaccines delivered in Telford, which is only just behind densely populated Islington North and Brentford & Isleworth, in terms of under 70s vaccinated. Lucy Allan MP has welcomed the progress made in protecting those most at risk in Telford and across the country.

"These figures are astonishing. They show that Telford residents are receiving their vaccinations in greater number than almost anywhere else in the Country. Its fantastic that we are doing so well compared to other areas. This is due to the amazing work of GPs, vaccinators, healthcare workers and volunteers in our area and I thank them all.
The local NHS Clinical Commissioning Group, which is responsible for the roll out locally, had decided not to use maximum capacity of the Telford International Centre over the last few weeks, despite having vaccine supply. Naturally, this has caused concern to residents awaiting a vaccine and has been a source of frustration to vaccinators and volunteers.
However, what is very clear from these figures is that Telford residents have not suffered a detriment as a consequence. In fact Telford residents are more likely to have had a jab living in Telford, than if they had been living almost anywhere else. That's amazing and it is not at all what people had been led to believe.
I am determined that the local CCG makes the best use of the available vaccine capacity; it is a lost opportunity to have a vaccine centre under used. Together with the other Shropshire MPs, I meet weekly with the local NHS team. We are working closely with them to ensure they do now invite more people to book appointments.
I am hugely encouraged that despite the under use of local vaccine capacity, this has not disadvantaged Telford residents. What we can see is once the CCG do use all available capacity, the roll out for all age groups can be expected to be extremely rapid. I know residents will be greatly reassured by these figures."
