Lucy Allan MP has welcomed the 1,559 laptops and tablets delivered by Government to disadvantaged children to help them learn from home.
In addition to 726 laptops and tablets provided by Telford and Wrekin Council and through donations, these 1,559 devices will ensure that disadvantaged children will be able to continue learning from home whilst schools are closed.
The children of key workers are still able to attend school in person as they have throughout the pandemic.
Lucy Allan MP said:
"I would like to thank everyone who donated a device towards this rollout of laptops and tablets. It really shows the best of Telford's community spirit and a desire to help out those children most in need."
"Whilst very welcome, more devices are not a substitution for the gap in learning, especially for younger children. Whilst nothing can truly replace in-person teaching, the provision by Telford schools for their pupils at home has been excellent."
"I would like to thank the teachers and staff who have made this all possible under the most challenging of circumstances and hope to see a full return for children to school as soon as it is possible to do so."
