Today local MP Lucy Allan has called on Telford & Wrekin Council to provide the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Matt Hancock MP with the information he needs to call in Future Fit for review.
It has been revealed that the council have written to request a call in but have not provided the necessary information. Accordingly, the Secretary of State is unable to intervene.
The council have stated in their letter that they would send in the relevant documentation at a later date.
Lucy Allan said:
“The council has huge power in the shaping of the Future Fit process and has been involved in the process throughout the last 5 years. It is inconceivable that the council was unfamiliar with the process.
“The Leader of the council says that he wants the Health Secretary to intervene but has still not provided the information to enable him to do so. I call on the Leader to provide the necessary information so that Future Fit can be reviewed without delay.”
